Kwame Kilpatrick versus Bill Clinton

Kwame Kilpatrich, the mayor of Detroit, was arraigned recently on felony perjury charges for lying about an extramarital affair [1]. The case at hand was not about sexual harassment but about abuse of authority in using city police to help cover up the affair, so the affair was not the crime itself but the cover up of it. This is close to the Lewinsky scandal. An arraignment is not a conviction (yet), but it's serious trouble for the mayor regardless. The next time somebody defends Bill Clinton's perjury as just sex, this is the case to keep in mind: material perjury is a felony, even when it's sex you are lying about. Yes, Clinton's impeachment was shamelessly political, but so was the failure to pursue charges after he left office (double jeopardy does not attach to impeachments).

I know this is really old news, but liberals still bring it up as if Clinton did nothing wrong. The ones I know out here have managed to delude themselves into a false history in a few short years.
