Tax rebels

I meant it tongue-in-cheek to start with. I wrote it was their _best_ qualification, not a _good_ one.

But since you are taking it seriously, I would not expect the average marijuana consumer to publicly pronounce their illegal activity. Nor would I regard their failing to have done so as hypocrisy if they advocate legalization after paying a penalty (when their speech is no longer incriminating).

Plus, it's open for question whether or not these were all intentional efforts to evade paying taxes or doubtful interpretations of the tax code. We have people of (possibly) good intentions ensnared by a capricious and incomprehensible tax code. That they see that after paying back taxes is not hypocrisy at all.

Except not hypocrites. If they want to proudly proclaim their tax
avoidance, I say fine. If it's hidden until some time it gets "outed",
then they are spineless cowards not fit for anything.
