The Rockefeller "public option" for government health insurance, among
others, promised a "level playing field". I see today that Obama is
engaging in another round of wage controls:

> The Obama administration plans to order companies that received huge
> government bailouts last year to sharply cut the compensation [50%] of
> their highest paid executives, according to a person familiar with the
> decision. [1]

The government should not have such ex post facto authority, least of
all the administration alone. It's economically senseless of course
too. It's pure politics of punishing (probable) Republicans while
making an empty gesture to Democrats. How about we cut the wages of all
top-level government employees 50% instead to punish them for the budget
mess?

With this sort of micro-management mentality, there is no chance that
any government "option" would ever compete on a level playing field.
